dripping juicy berries lining the paths

springs breaking through the earth to give us all a drink

seasonal sounds, the symphony of the mountains

all contributing to the harmonious habitat

when I take from the land, I give something back

a prayer, a song, a private homage

for the the pharmacy withstanding time

and its resilient, powerful medicine

should not be taken lightly

should not be taken without a mindful recognition

that the wisdom of our grandmothers

still echoes through leaves and roots.
